Set up and use online ILPs
Using Google Classroom Online ILPs means
Learners can give feedback quickly and easily from their phone.
Tutors always receive feedback from all their Classes in one place.
Tutors write their ILP comments for each learner online within their Classroom.
Because it is online, the standard 'ILP - course information and progress' also contains linked information for induction in one easily accessible place, making it a key document for reference by the tutor.
Significant saving on printing costs of paper ILPs.
One set up for each tutor covers all her Classes
A. Feedback form (one time set up)
A. Add a copy of the Feedback Form in the top level of their .ac.uk My Drive
Make a copy of the Feedback form in Shared Drive 'All tutors Resources'/ 2. ILPs.
Move the copy to My Drive (top level)
Star this new file for easy access
B. QR code to use the Feedback form
Create and Save the QR code
Find the link to the form: Open the Form and choose 'Send' ...'Via Link'
Choose 'Shorten URL' then copy
Open https://www.qr-code-generator.com/ and Paste in your link

Receive feedback using the the QR code
Insert the QR code you created (and saved to your laptop) into the standard document in a Classroom called 'Session Feedback-QR'
Print or display 'Session Feedback-QR' in your sessions
Use this same 'Session Feedback-QR' for every session.
You can then 'Reuse this post' for all other Classes you teach.
Each time you use the feedback form, provide learners with a simple course title and the session number.
B. Spreadsheet to monitor feedback (one time set up)
Responses from the tutor's Feedback Form are set up to send to a spreadsheet on their ac.uk My Drive
How to set it up:
Open the tutor's reponse form in edit mode and Click on the Responses tab
Choose 'Link to Sheets' - then 'Create a new spreadsheet'
Find the new spreadsheet in My Drive then 'Star' it so it's easy to find again
Once this spreadsheet is set up (it can be renamed) , the tutor will find ALL her Feedback response from ALL her courses here
With the spreadsheet open, turn on 'Filters' ( in the 'Data' tab)
Using the spreadsheet to build tutor ILP comments
Tutor opens the spreadsheet in her My Drive (easy to find when it's Starred)
Using the column filter in the spreadsheet, the tutor can easily view responses from individual courses and sessions
A leaner's feedback comments can simply be copied and pasted into the individual's 'ILP - course info and progress'
Writing and sharing ILPs in Classroom
Finding and writing comments in learner ILPs
How the tutor adds to the ILP
Important:
At the start of a new course, the standard Assignment 'ILP - Course information and progress' needs to be populated with relevant details (time, date, course title, code, course objectives etc) BEFORE it is assigned. This is usually done by the CC but should be checked by the tutor.
Post the Assignment in the Classroom with 'Copy for all learners'
Find and write ILP comments during the course
Find each learner's ILP in a folder called 'ILP course-information and progress' inside the Class Drive Folder. The Class Drive folder is accessed through the Classwork tab.
Open a learner's ILP and write comments, after checking (and copying) their feedback from the response spreadsheet.
The document is autosaved and can be closed.
Communicating ILP comments with learners
Either: Learners can either read comments by looking in their own Classroom
Or: The tutor can 'Right Click' on an individual learner's document in the ILP folder, copy the link and paste it into an email.
Find learner emails
In the People tab of a Classroom. Click the icon by a learner's name to initiate an email.
In the tutor's online register. Click on a name in the register to reveal email and phone number.
Note: if a learner has not joined the Classroom, the tutor can still make a personalised copy of the course's ILP document for each learner and share it as above.
